Barter Black Announces Launch of Online Bartering Network To Dismantle Funding Obstacles for Black Entrepreneurs
African American woman provides funding alternative for black-owned businesses with a new bartering platform

Bowie, MD – December 24, 2021 – Barter Black, an online bartering network curated to address the funding challenges of Black-owned businesses, will launch in February 2022. Dubbed the Black Carpet Affair, the launch will run from February 18-19, 2022. The momentous launch will be held at College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center in Hyattsville, Maryland.

According to CNBC, 80% of Black-owned and operated businesses fail within their first eighteen months of operation. Nicole Murphy, the founder of Barter Black, believes that a critical issue in the survival of Black businesses is a lack of funding. She intends to reduce this challenge with her new online bartering network significantly.

“This is historic, and this is going to be a game-changer on how Black entrepreneurs and business owners do business today,” shared Murphy.

Barter Black is an online bartering network for just about any service that Black entrepreneurs need. The business operates on a subscription business model, where business owners can post the services they need in exchange for something they already have in their business. The platform offers three subscription packages with varying perks and price points.

The fundamental issue that Barter Black addresses is the unfortunate statistic that Black entrepreneurs are the most likely group to request funding. However, they are the least likely to receive it. With Murphy’s solution, Black business owners will trade their services or goods with others who have the expertise they need to move their business forward. This platform will almost completely remove the need to seek funding when all is said and done.

This innovative business solution will have an accompanying mobile application and will officially launch in February of next year. The 2-day launch will feature a pitch competition on the 18th, and the event for the launch will occur on February 19. The tickets for Black Carpet Affair come with many perks, including a demo of the app, exclusive access to the app, a match-making opportunity with the perfect person to barter with, and more.

Nicole Murphy, a native of Washington (DC) and alumnus of Susquehanna University, has experienced much success and attracted much attention with this historic platform. Having filed the trademark for Barter Back in November 2020, Murphy has won the She Boss Talk Black History Month Business Competition and the Jack Daniels New Beginnings: Make It Count Grant. The business has also been scouted by investors who have offered to buy the platform.

Armed with a passion for changing the financial legacy of the Black community, Murphy and her team will make history with Barter Black.
